Victorville, Just before 12:35 p.m Wednesday, #SBCoFD received reports of a traffic collision in the area Green Tree Blvd and First Avenue. A traffic collision with injuries was dispatched which included one Paramedic Engine and an AMR ambulance.
While enroute additional reports stated victims were possibly trapped. The assignment was modified at that point to include a Paramedic Truck company and a Chief Officer. The first arriving engine reported one immediate driver trapped in a collision involving a mid sized vehicle and a garbage truck. Crews initiated extrication as well as patient care to the victim trapped inside.
The vehicle sustained major front end and drivers side damage. Firefighters used multiple hydraulic powered extrication tools to remove the vehicle from around the patient. It took Firefighters approximately 20 minutes extricate the victim. An air ambulance was requested to transport the patient to a trauma center down the hill. Once the victim was transported to the landing zone at Victor Valley Hospital he was evaluated and stabilized.
County Fire responded with 1 paramedic engine company, 1 paramedic truck, 1 chief officer for a total of 7 personnel. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

When spec’ing its new Heavy Rescue, the Keyser, WV Fountain Volunteer Fire Company chose a 23′ aluminum SVI body mounted on a Sutphen 73″ chassis, which houses a Cummins X12 455 HP engine. This special operations apparatus comes with a Onan Protec 25k-watt PTO generator, Command Light Knight Series light tower, Girard retractable lateral arm awning, walk-in area with bench seat, desk, storage cabinets and much more.

EVI custom modular 24-Ft Non-Walk-In heavy duty body with rooftop compartments. Mounted on a Spartan Gladiator 20″ raised roof, long four-door chassis with seating for five and powered by a Cummins X12 500 HP engine. The unit includes ROM-painted roll-up compartment doors, an assortment of adjustable shelves, trays, swing-out tool boards, lumber/cribbing storage, two(2) Zico turntable extrication tool holders, toolbox, airbag storage rack, rooftop speedy-dry dispenser, toolbox, Duo-Safety ladders and more. Other key components include a 35 KW Onan PTO generator, electric cord reel, Will-Burt Sirion LED light tower, hydraulic reels, and a portable Warn 10,000-pound winch. LED lighting on the heavy rescue is provided by Whelen, FireTech/HiViz, Roto-Ray, Tri-Lite, and Amdor.
