When it comes to tool and equipment mounting on heavy rescues or any apparatus for that matter. Two main options are available, off the shelf mounts or custom fabricated mounts. However, a third option is a blend of custom and off the shelf mounts that you can see in the pictures below with the hand tools.

Airbag Storage
Custom airbag holders are typical installed horizon as scene in the picture below. However, larger airbags and ground plates can also be built to store the them vertically in an apparatus. Also consider any future airbags that the truck my have. It would be a mistake to leave wasted space around airbag compartments that could be used in the future.
Vander Fire Department, Fayetteville (NC) Heavy Rescue
When spec’ing their new Heavy Rescue, Vander Fire Department chose a 24′ aluminum body mounted on a 4-Door Spartan Gladiator LFD chassis, which houses a Cummins X12 engine. This apparatus comes fully stocked with Hurst extrication equipment, KL series Light Tower, Warn Zeon winch, heavy-duty cargo trays and much more.

Fresno Fire Department, Fresno (CA) Heavy Rescue
When spec’ing their new Heavy Rescue, Fresno Fire Department chose a 26′ aluminum body mounted on a 4-door Spartan Gladiator chassis, which houses a Cummins X15 engine. This apparatus comes with a custom-built power tool storage tray, OnScene Solutions Transverse Cargo Slides, KL Command Light, dual awnings, Paratech strut mounting and much more.
