Tinton Falls Fire Company No. 1
Extrication/Rope Rescue Drill
This morning seventeen (17) members of the department completed an advanced extrication drill at the Tinton Falls Department of Public Works Recycling Center. The evolution simulated a previous call the department responded to on 9/6/2005 where a single vehicle plunged off of a Garden State Parkway bridge and landed on it’s roof some 40′ below.
The training drill required the use a of a Paratech MonoPod Kit setup off of Rescue Engine 1-80 as an artificial high directional to assist members as they descended and ascended over the edge. Rescuers also had to contend with a simulated concrete “Jersey barrier” that fell on top of the vehicle which weighed in at almost 4,000lbs. After the victim, “Rescue Randy” was successfully extricated from the vehicle, he was technically and medically packaged and raised to street level in a stokes basket. The Tinton Falls Fire Company is committed to providing the very best training opportunities to our members so that they can successfully handle the myriad of emergencies they’re tasked with responding to.
