Trench Rescue

The 2021 Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center (HCESTC) Trench Rescue Technician class was a 24 hour program that taught students how to shore intersecting trenches (L and T), deep trenches >8′, and “repair hole” excavations.  The first day are virtual presentations followed by 2 hands on training days. A Fredonia DPW worker was flown to the hospital with “crush-related injuries” after being rescued from a trench. The victim was working when the sidewall of the trench collapsed on top of the man, leaving him buried chest high.
