Andrew Brassard built the “Rat Maze” for the Milton Fire Department. We featured one Goshen Township Fire & EMS built in the Lifting Maze – DIY Rescue Drill Prop post. But what happened when he sent a few pictures out? Cincinnati Heavy Rescue 9 made one out of wood and was designed to hold several bags of absorball to give it some good weight to move.  Make sure you also checkout the post that Spartan Rescue Inc put together.  The post is a photo gallery of all 3 different props.

Trench Rescue Technician

Howell, Michigan is ground zero for trench rescue.

MUSAR has been providing technical rescue training since 1991.  Their instructors come from the fire service and have real-life rescue experience. Based off many USAR folks that I talked to, Howell, Michigan is the place to go to stay on the leading edge with trench rescue. For the last several years a great friend from across the pond would travel to Michigan to take the latest trench rescue program from the Michigan Urban Search And Rescue Training Foundation.  Irakli West from Heavy Rescue Germany is that friend.

Below are the photo summary of each day’s activities.
