Currently, every Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force is deployed to the collapse of the Champlain Towers South.
Virginia Task Force-Two Activated to Florida – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has activated the Virginia Beach based Urban Search and Rescue Team, Virginia Task Force 2 (VATF2), to deploy to Surfside, Fla., to assist with the Surfside Condo collapse. VATF-2 USAR is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams positioned across the country. The Virginia Beach Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for VATF-2.

Current Operations: The National US&R Response System has deployed the following resources at the request of the State of Florida/Region IV; 4 Structures Specialists (from VA- TF2 & VA-TF1) as single resources, and the Blue Incident Support Team Mission Ready Package-Command-IST (15 personnel) to support the management of search and rescue operations. The following three System resources have been issued Alert Orders as NIMS Type 1 US&R Task Forces VA-TF2, VA- TF1 & OH-TF1.

Vehicle into Pizza Hut

Toledo Fire & Rescue Department
Earlier this afternoon, Toledo Fire crews including USAR 1 and USAR 2 responded to the 3400 block of Secor Rd for a reported car into a building. One vehicle traveled across a corner lot and struck the SE corner of a Pizza Hut restaurant. Two adults were treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to a local ER for further evaluation.
Toledo Fire Technical Rescue crews initially placed a Paratech strut, then replaced it with a wooden spot shore to stabilize the corner of the building before releasing it back to the owner. No additional injuries were reported. #toledofire #toledofirefighters #techrescue

Vehicle Into a House (Toledo, OH)
In October of 2021, Toledo Fire & Rescue was dispatched to reports of a vehicle into a house. The vehicle lost control and entered the home inverted trapping two occupants of the car.

In October of 2021, Toledo Fire & Rescue was dispatched to reports of a vehicle into a house. The vehicle lost control and entered the home inverted trapping two occupants of the car. Technical Rescue team members worked to shore the structure as additional crews extricated the two occupants of the vehicle. One of them suffered fatal injuries, the other was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries. Firefighters were able to remove the uninjured occupant of the home through a second window by ladder. No firefighter injuries were reported with this incident.
